Help! We keep buying new gear.

Any other bands got buying-new-gearitus...

I knew it was bad when one morning last March, I awoke with hangover and new drum kit, stands and cymbals.

Online shopping at 3am whilst under the influence is more dangerous than driving drunk. What could I tell the Mrs? Thinking on my feet, I quickly purchased a Welsh holiday and told her I'd bought a few little extra bits for my kit too...

But my bank statement keeps reminding me that AT LEAST ONCE a month, I find myself with another little musical trinket. October: woodblocks/stands (woodblocks FFS!?), November: china cymbal, December: splash cymbal and January: a new Roland KD-85.

I keep telling myself I can pay it off with gig money but it doesn't quite work like that. I mean, I probably will break even if I stop now and keep playing until 2017 but I can't stop. I'm now looking at lighting, for example.

What makes me feel extra guilty is the fact that I think I've infected the rest of TMS. Bass man Mike has a new amp and new bass. Paul, our lead guitarist keeps buying amps and pedals and as of today... even Spen has bought a new guitar and amp.

Is this an epidemic or is it just us???

Our bass player suffers from GAS and has been taking tablets (that don't work). But here's Joe Bonamassa who has it really bad - but also has millions of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to treat it!

I only buy gear if it is going to help me make money now or as an investment for later in life. And everything is paid for in pound notes, been down the road of buy now pay later, I was disciplined enough back then. So cash only now for me, if I don't have it I don't buy it!!!

But it is definitely contagious.......

I would have an AC30 over any amp/head I can see in Joe's collection.............

Always got it......it's what attics full of spiders are for ;-)
Got caught out once though. Was doing a gig in Kirkham and my Mrs decided to surprise me by turning up unnanounced.....me with me new white Strat an'all :-( Talk about a bollocking....worth it though.

Hahaha! Tony, one purchase will eventually lead to my divorce.

What gets me is that I don't really need the stuff I buy. The china I bought is used on one song. The splash I bought was also for one song - which has now been dropped...

The gear just makes me feel safer and warmer inside...

Just been discussing golden hand grenade mics with our singer when we've already got some lovely SM58s. Kill me now.

all this and bands not even gigging, and does not have all members in place anyway,
