Great end to the weekend watching a Band of Gypsies in the Sun Inn Briarcliffe
The Mrs, Myself and another Couple (Ruth and Martin) had a great night over Briarcliffe last night in a cozy little pub over there called The Sun Inn.
The Band of Gypsies did a cracking show... An excellent 3 piece. One of the most tasteful guitarist's Ive seen I moved down here to the NW probably scince seeing Midnight Johnny play.
Some fantastic Strat tones from Tony then blow me he picks up a Les Paul and has a Gibson sound to die for!
Some Hendrix, Neil Young, some Sabbath as well as many other acts coverd. Tony did almost all the lead vocals but Russ on the Bass (again nice sounding bass played well) did a cracking job on Sabbaths Fairy's wear boots!
I never got to speak to the lad on the kit but he played very well and ( a bug bearer of mine) what a nicely tuned kit!
Not an in depth review ****I was just out out for a pint and a run out somewhere different. I have the feelig the venue is very much a rock bar ,it certaily was last night , reasonable prices and a few real ale choices, very easy load in and a small playing area fit a trio or 4 piece, anymore it maybe a bit tight.
**** I dont know the band or had set in the venue before. Im based in Preston and shifts and gigs permitting like to go out around the region and see bands.
