"Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse"

It's life Jim...but not as we know it!

Whilst waiting to perform in Walton Le Dale on Saturday I was unfortunate enough to have to endear about 10 minutes of The X Factor on tv inside the venue. I saw the incedent that people are now talking about where Cowell 'puts down' someone as they walked on stage before amazingly blowing everyone away with a fabulous singing voice.....yawn.

Is there a more distasteful show on tv? I wouldn't know because I don't watch tv but there surely can't be. The other week I entered my front room to find the kids glued to a show called 'The Big Bang Theory'

If anyone EVER catches me watching (and enjoying) this tripe then you have my permission to shoot me!

Why don't you....just switch off your television set and go out and do something less boring instead? Wise words from the 80's....and intended for kids!

Is it any wonder we are surrounded by chavs, sheeple and dumbed down johnny friendlys? I don't know, maybe it IS the diet coke! Stop the world, I wanna get off.

You know what... the sunset and moonrise was amazing last night. The telly holds little interest to me these days..

That's the spirit! Life is too short.

Chopping a few years offa your age there Gary - the was the 70's!

@Guy - Shhhhhhh

@Havoc 51 - Well it must have been the other one then. I know the X Factor is running at the moment because I know a couple of people who are waiting to see if they have 'got through' - I presume that this will be screened later in the year. To be honest I don't know the difference. Aren't they looking for people to ridicule? and those who avoid ridicule, exploit?

Yeah I thought it was 70s too. Talk of TV though. I can not and will not watch live TV. I have to record it first. That way I feel at least partly in control and I don't have to watch f...ing idiots advertising shite I have no interest in.

Seems there was a 1988 similar version of that saying too. Why Don't You? (1988)

Okay. found it. 1977

Why Don't You? or Why Don't You Just Switch Off Your Television Set and Go Out and Do Something Less Boring Instead? was a cult BBC children's television series broadcast in 42 series between 20 August 1973 and 21 April 1995. It went out on weekday mornings during the school holidays. The format consisted of groups or "gangs" of children responding to letters from viewers who wrote in to the show suggesting games, 'makes' and days out. Typically these were arts-and-crafts activities involving cutting up paper, or games and magic tricks children could learn to impress their friends.

Created by producer/director Patrick Dowling, Russell T Davies was at one time a producer and director for Why Don't You? before going on to greater fame as writer of Queer as Folk and producer of the 2005 revival of Doctor Who. Under Davies' direction, the format of the series shifted from magazine show to drama, with plots frequently centring around harebrained young Welsh presenter Ben Slade and his increasingly elaborate inventions. Slade was the longest serving presenters in the show's 22 year run.[1]

So now you know. :) Didn't think I was watching that type of TV in 1988.

WDY.... a tv show that urged you to switch of the television set ..etc. and we all sat and watched it on the said telly!
Irony? lol

...there was always some saddo who collected Rulers or Rubbers (pencil erasers for our southern friends) on it wasn't there?
