Northern Riot and Black Cat Trio

Following on from Martin's (TFL) blog regarding the Northern Riot gig on Sunday, I don't have much to add to it apart from the fact that I was impressed by the variety of songs on the set list. I can only apologise for missing their encore (I'm certain that they did one) as I left to catch The Black Cat Trio at The Crown.

Luckily for me the band were late starting which meant that I caught all of their set apart from the first couple of songs. The gig was really really good and a breath of fresh air! All 50's/60's Rock'n'Roll and rockabilly.....Johhny Cash, Chuck Berry, Johnny Burnette ect. The guitar sound was spot on (Gretch through a Fender valve amp), the double bass and stand up drummer were excellent and the vocals and stage presence soon had the audience 'bopping'....quite literally as the tables were moved to create space for some superb dancing! A great authentic sound and very entertaining too.

I won't hesitate to watch both Northern Riot and The Black Cat Trio again. Thanks lads for a great afternoon/evening!

Spot on Mr Shakers.

I've seen both these bands also and although vastly different in musical style, they are both great bands to watch.
