The Ship on Watery lane

The Ship on Watery lane Ashton Preston, has closed its doors, this used to be a good venue for bands, what a shame.

It is a sad milestone passing Tony. What is sadder and a bit scary is that the British beer and pub association claim that 39 a week are closing in Britain. This is better.( better!!) than 2 years ago when the figure was 52 a week. No wonder gigs are getting hard to come by compared with 10 years ago. It would be interesting if anyone out there has figures for how many new pubs are opening?..CJ

Hindley/Ince used to have one of the highest concentrations of pubs on one stretch of road...can't remember full details, but when pits were operating fully in very early 60's
